Himalayan Gateway: Chandigarh to Spiti in 7 Days

Your journey kicks off from Chandigarh with a scenic drive towards Narkanda via Shimla. As you leave the plains behind, the road snakes through pine forests, apple orchards, and hilltop villages. Reach Narkanda by evening and unwind at your hotel while soaking in the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

After breakfast, proceed towards Kalpa, a quaint town in the Kinnaur district. En route, enjoy views of the Sutlej River and rugged Himalayan terrain. Upon reaching Kalpa, admire the stunning view of the sacred Kinner Kailash range and explore local monasteries and temples nestled in this serene landscape.

Today is dedicated to discovering the highest inhabited villages of the world. Visit Hikkim (world’s highest post office), Komic (one of the highest villages connected by a motorable road), and Langza (famous for marine fossils and a giant Buddha statue). Leave early for Chandratal, one of the most scenic lakes in Himachal Pradesh. Cross the majestic Kunzum Pass, offering panoramic Himalayan views. Reach Chandratal and spend time admiring its crystal-clear waters, often reflecting the changing colors of the sky. Overnight camping near the lake under a star-studded sky is a surreal experience.

After breakfast, begin your return journey via the rugged Spiti–Manali route. The offbeat drive through Batal, Chatru, and the Atal Tunnel is a fitting end to this high-altitude adventure.
