The Grand Spiti Escape – 10 Days

Your journey begins in Chandigarh, where you’ll meet our representative and start your scenic drive towards Narkanda via Shimla. The winding roads and pine-scented air set the mood for the adventure ahead. On arrival, check in to your hotel and relax with panoramic views of the mountains.

After breakfast, begin your journey to the beautiful Sangla Valley, often called the "Land of Fairy Tales." You’ll drive along the Sutlej River and witness changing landscapes. Optional detour to Chitkul, the last village near the Indo-China border, known for its pristine beauty and charming wooden houses.

Start your day with a refreshing morning and head to Kalpa, a quaint Himalayan town overlooking the majestic Kinner Kailash range. Explore the village, enjoy apple orchards, and visit the ancient Buddhist monastery and Hindu temples that co-exist in harmony.

Today, the route takes you from lush Kinnaur into the high-altitude desert of Spiti. Drive through rugged mountains, cross the Khab Sangam (confluence of Spiti and Sutlej Rivers), and witness the landscape transform dramatically. Reach Tabo and visit the 1000-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO heritage site.

Depart for Kaza with detours to Dhankar Monastery, perched high on a cliff, offering breathtaking views. Later, explore the serene and less-explored Pin Valley, famous for its wildlife and remote beauty. Arrive in Kaza by evening and settle in.

Spend the day exploring the high-altitude villages around Kaza. Visit Langza (fossil village), Hikkim (home to the world’s highest post office), and Komic (one of the world’s highest motorable villages). Meet the locals and experience Spiti’s traditional lifestyle and hospitality.

In the morning, visit the iconic Key Monastery – the spiritual heart of Spiti Valley. Soak in its peaceful ambiance and stunning hilltop location. Continue towards Kibber, a charming village once known as the highest in Asia. You can even spot blue sheep or a snow leopard if lucky.

Leave Kaza and head to one of the most enchanting alpine lakes in Himachal – Chandratal. Cross the mighty Kunzum Pass and witness surreal beauty. Reach the lake by afternoon and enjoy the turquoise water reflecting the surrounding peaks. Overnight camping near Chandratal under a starlit sky is an experience of a lifetime.

After breakfast, drive to Manali via Batal, Chatru, and the famous Atal Tunnel (weather permitting). This off-road route is filled with raw beauty and adventurous river crossings. Arrive in Manali by evening and enjoy some leisure time in the town.

After a memorable journey, bid farewell to the mountains and drive back to Chandigarh. You’ll reach by evening with hearts full of memories, breathtaking views etched in your mind, and the spirit of Spiti forever within you.
